கே சி பள்ளியில் பொங்கல் கொண்டாட்டம்

கே சி ஹை பள்ளியில் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் மாணவர்களும் ஆசிரியர்களும் அண்ணாக்களும் அக்காக்களும் ஒன்று கூடி பொங்கல் பண்டிகை கொண்டாடுவோம். அன்று அனைவரும் பாரம்பரிய உடை அணிந்து வருவோம். வண்ணக் கோலங்கள் இட்டு, புதுப் பானையை அலங்கரித்துப் பொங்கல் செய்து, இறைவனுக்குப் படைத்துப் “பொங்கலோ பொங்கல்” என்று அனைவரும் கூவி மகிழ்வோம்.  தமிழை இரண்டாம் மொழியாகக் கற்கும் மாணவ மாணவிகள் ஆடல், பாடல், பட்டிமன்றம் போன்ற நிகழ்ச்சிகளை நடத்தி மகிழ வைப்பர்.  தொடக்கப் பள்ளி மாணவர்கள் மாட்டுவண்டியில் களிப்புடன் உலா வருவர். பின் மாணவ மாணவியர் வகுப்புகளில் வண்ணக் கோலங்கள் போடுவர். பொங்கல் பண்டிகையின் சிறப்புகளைப் பற்றி பகிர்ந்து நினைவு கூர்வர். மதிய உணவிற்கு பாரம்பரிய உணவும், சர்க்கரைப் பொங்கல், கரும்பும் உண்டு மகிழ்வோம்.

பட்டிமன்றம்

கே சி ஹை பள்ளியின் நடுநிலைப் பள்ளி மாணவர்களான ஆஸ்ரிதா, சாதனா மற்றும் மெய்யப்பன் மூவரும் சியாட்டிலில் உள்ள மாணவர்களுடன்  ரெண்ட்டன் கிரியேஷன்ஸ் தொகுத்து நடத்திய இணையப் பட்டிமன்றத்தில் கலந்து கொண்டனர். பட்டிமன்ற தலைப்பு “பெற்றோருடன் உறவு பலமாக இருப்பது அமெரிக்காவிலா? இந்தியாவிலா?”.  திருமதி ஜெயா மாறன் அவர்கள் நடுவராக இருந்து பெற்றோருடன் உறவு பலமாக இருப்பது, இந்தியாவிலே! என்று தீர்ப்பு வழங்கினார். இந்தப் பட்டிமன்றம் கிறிஸ்துமஸ் தினத்தன்று யூ ட்யூபில் வெளிவந்தது. மாணவர்களுக்கு இது ஒரு சிறந்த அனுபவமாக இருந்தது.

Translation:

Every year at KC High School, students, teachers, baiyas, and akkaas come together to celebrate Pongal. On that day we will all wear traditional dress. We will make colorful pots, decorate the new pot and celebrate Pongal, and we will all shout “Pongalo Pongal” to the Lord. Students learning Tamil as a second language will perform dances, songs, and debates in assembly time. Primary students roam happily in the bullock cart. Then they will put colorful rangoli on the corridors. They will share the significance of the Pongal festival. We will have special lunch including sweet pongal and sugarcane.

The Debate:

KC High School’s middle school students Asrita, Sadhana, and Meyyappan participated in a virtual debate in Tamil conducted by Renton Kreations with Indian students in Seattle. The topic of the debate was “Is the relationship with parents strong in the United States? In India? ”. Ms. Jaya Maran was their arbitrator. The debate result is the relationship with parents is strong in India. The debate video was released on YouTube on Christmas Day. It was a great experience for the students.
