On 17th August, 2019 students of IBDP 1 and 2 visited the research team of Professor Ramaprabhu Sundara (EG Ramachandran institute chair professor, Dept. of Physics, IIT Madras) to know more about iron-ion batteries. Ajay Piriya, Ph.D student of Professor Sundara explained the different aspects of developing iron-ion batteries which are a low-cost, environment-friendly, geographically-abundant and sustainable energy source.
The IBDP students interacted with Ms.Ajay Piriya and got to understand the intricacies in developing a product that involves contemporary cutting-edge technology.
The students then,visited Dr.Preethi Aghalayam’s lab where her Ph.D student explained his research project which involves identifying and characterising low cost catalyst alternatives for catalytic converters which will reduce NOx emissions which acidifies rain water.
